Outrage is beyond sad, right? Well that’s what I am feeling these days. With all of the sad stories and all of the hatred that is going on in this world, I am just beyond sad. Is it the stress that we feel? I mean really, what is going on these days? Things seem to be escalating. We need to spread some goodness and happiness.
‘It only takes a spark to get a fire going and soon all those around’. . . .well, you know how the song goes. It is about Passing It Onand called “I Will Always Love You.” Let’s spread some goodness; let’s pass it on. Have you noticed that happiness seems to multiply when you spread it–much like outrage does, so let’s choose happiness and spread it! Let’s make it so that the goodness outweighs the outrage. The ripple effect (of goodness) can start with just one person, one act, one spark!
It can be something simple like holding the door for someone or something larger, such as giving your theater tickets to someone else, or even larger such as donating a car. It can be something easy like paying for the toll of the person behind you or the order of the person in line behind you. I think the most fun of setting a spark in motion is the wonderful feeling you get–especially if you do it anonymously. It can even just be saying “thank you” to someone while looking them in their eyes so they know you really mean it. It doesn’t have to be large, but it does need to be something. This is something we can all do each and every day. Let’s play nice.
This can be our best investment–to invest in kindness, spreading it, and ultimately making this world happier. Remember Dolly Parton’s song, I Will Always Love You? Friends, I wish you joy and happiness; I wish you love and peace. Let’s keep hope alive, erase the outrage, and live happier. Let’s live in peace. What a wonderful world this could be.
